I don’t believe the stories I have heard or the things I have seen in my years of being a hairstylist. First off growing up the fast, easy and extremely cheap way to get a weave done was to head over to the beauty supply store and purchase a $10 pack of hair and $1 hair glue. This was a routine my sister and I would do, as we took turns gluing and blow drying the hair on to our hair or scalps. From that experience we lost a lot of our own hair through pulling, clogging and weakening. As I grew up and received more knowledge I vowed never to use glue ever again in my life. You get what you pay for, nothing! ” nothing left on your head that is…
I have seen weaves & wigs glued down, so much it was nearly attached to the scalp. The end results were tragic. One of my clients told me her recent hairdresser used glue because she wanted the top tracks to be flat and blend better with her hair, I was saddened. Why? Because using glue is the laziest thing a stylist can do. That hairdresser does not care about the integrity or growth of anyone’s hair, just the dollar, The client has been with me ever since for almost 2 years now and her hair has grown and I braided and sewed the top tracks and there is no problem: no bulk and easily blends in. You shouldn’t need to wear a weave or wig, it should be an option.
Ladies if you are faced with a stylist that wants to use glue for any reason, RUN!!! Love your own hair first, it is your crown.
